Nikon zoom lens recommendations

I am looking for recommendations please for a compact and preferably lightweight zoom lens for a Nikon D750.
It will be used mainly for aircraft photography around an airfield perimeter.
Many thanks in anticipation for all advice given.

Re: Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300mm lens help

Hi James

I suggest you use a shutter speed of at least 1/300th of a second and an aperture of f11 for maximum depth of field.

There are plenty of reviews of the D3200 online which can probably give you some more tips on how to get it right!

Regards

Robin

Re: Glasgow on A Misty 08/02/2017

It sounds like you are having Depth of Field problems.
If you are using a zoom lens at its maximum setting the depth of field is short. If you use a larger aperture ie f8 or f11 this should help.
There are several articles about this online which explain the technicalities much better than I can !

Excellent photographs!

Is this the only civil registered Il62 cargo plane?

Re: NASA B747 & Shuttle at Heathrow

I saw it doing a low approach/overshoot at Glasgow Airport during its visit to the UK.
It was supposed to fly over the Rolls Royce factory at East Kilbride on its way south but got lost and never appeared there!

Andy

I suspect that heat haze was the problem. Some of your shots were taken from almost 2 miles away.

What lens/ISO/shutter speed were you using?

Your photographs are some of the best on this forum so you obviously don't have camera techique issues.

Best wishes

Great photographs but I would respectfully point out that 'Scotch Whisky' is spelt without an 'E' in it!

Re: RAW or JPEG?

If you are just starting out with a new digital slr it is difficult enough mastering all the controls without having to learn about Photoshop or Lightroom too!
