Re: British Airways Viscount 800 G-AOYG Turnhouse 1976

I'm sure I remember reading there were two different types of propellers fitted to Viscounts. I thought it was quite early in their service history though, not as late as your photos.

That's a great selection of photos, bringing back many memories. Doesn't the DC-10 look fabulous in Caledonian livery?

Lovely shots Paul, particularly the Condor 757 and the Binter E-Jet E2.

Thanks Wallie. Yes, the Loganair livery looks lovely on most aircraft, but does work especially well on the 340.

That must have been most therapeutic Andy. The 787 looks lovely, and the first FedEx 777 is rather nicely lit.

Re: Heathrow night time landings, 27L 16-01-2020

This was all a bit of an experiment and I really didn't know what to expect from the results. I actually used a set speed of 1/100th to try to eliminate as much movement as I could as I feared that I would still get some showing even with IS in use. That's probably too low to prevent blur in most o...

Re: Heathrow night time landings, 27L 16-01-2020

Well done for experimenting, especially given the inclement wx! The Swiss A321 is rather atmospheric with the rain; I would be very happy with that shot. You say the lens is f/1.8, did you shoot with it set at f/1.8? That would be the obvious thing to do, to enable you set a lower ISO. I would sugge...

Re: Heathrow likely runway in use tomorrow (16-01-2020)

As you say, Heathrow prefer the 27s and will keep operating on them with up to a 5kt tailwind component. The relationship between relative wind angle and wind component is not linear (they are vector components for those that like maths!). This means that for winds that are 45 degrees from the direc...

Re: SPOTM December 2019 - Winter Wonderland, a civilian aircraft with snow or/and Ice

The bright and sunny livery on this easyJet A319 about to be delivered to Allegiant was quite a contrast to the mist and snow one morning at Stansted in March 2018:

There's a problem with the poll in that only one option can be selected, rather than two. I'll wait for you to fix it before voting!
