Brno-Tuřany, Czech Republic, 30.08.2021

Hello all, On Monday afternoon of this week I went to my local international airport, Brno-Tuřany (BRQ/LKTB), for the first time in a long while. The spotting started slow, but picked up a bit after a while. Here's some of the action in the order it occured in: First up, air ambulance: https://i.img...

Brno (BRQ/LKTB) 29.3.2019

I got an unexpected free day today, so I spent the morning at my local airport here in Brno, Czech Republic. There wasn't any scheduled airline action, but some interesting GA and freighter stuff was on hand to make the trip out worthwhile. An Italian registered Mooney M20 stopped in: https://i.imgu...

Remembering BMI Regional (1987-2019)

With the news of BMI Regional's bankruptcy coming down this weekend, I thought maybe we could have something of a memorial thread to them. I personally never used their services, but I will miss their Embraer jets that have been coming and going from my local airport in Brno, Czech Republic (LKTB/BR...

Oldtimer Weekend 2018 - Brno, Czech Republic

Hello all, This weekend was the annual Oldtimer Weekend at the Medlánky glider airport in Brno, Czech Republic. The weather was lovely with Autumn backdrops to shoot some of the action against. What looked like a freshly built Grunau Baby II was the first thing to get my attention upon arrival: http...

Madrid Barajas (MAD) 16.4.2018

Hello all, Here are some photos I took of movements at Madrid's Barajas airport on the morning of 16.4.2018. All the photos were taken from terminal 4, which is where the regional flights go from. The A319 was the bird of prominence at terminal 4. However, an ATR-72 still in old Iberia colours and a...

Brno (BRQ) 31.8.2017

I was out at my local yesterday as my girlfriend was returning form a few days in Greece. While I was waiting, I caught a couple of pictures of a Ryanair 737 departing just after 18:00 with the early evening light just starting to show effect: http://i.imgur.com/1r3xqcb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HdMDyI...

Re: Brno (BRQ) 27.8.2017

Thanks for the kind comments, gents. I don't get out to my local as much as I'd like. Some interesting stuff comes in, but rarely when I'm there. I've seen the Ruby Star Antonov An-12s and the Honeywell B757 heading in or out over town, but I've yet to be at the airport when they are actually there....

Brno (BRQ) 27.8.2017

Today I was out at my local to see my girlfriend off on a short holiday to Greece. Quite a few direct flights to Balkan and Mediterranean holiday spots go from Brno in the summer months. She flew out on SX-ORG, an A320 that has been in the Smartwings fleet since May of this year and carries a mix of...

Re: Kunovice Air Museum and Flying Club Open Day (24.6.2017)

nice pics and a nice report too - many thanks. Looks a very good venue and easy access to the aircraft. Is the Tu.154 due to be preserved there? andy Thanks for the kind comments. Kunovice has a reputation as a welcoming and accessible airport. The Tu-154 will go to a museum in Slovakia, most likel...

Kunovice Air Museum and Flying Club Open Day (24.6.2017)

Hello all, Yesterday, I went to the far south east of the Czech Republic to attend a function organised by the aviation museum and flying club in Kunovice. The event was officially known as "Military Day", but it was much larger and more well rounded than that name suggested. Beyond the open house a...

Prague "Open Runways" Event (10.6.2017)

Hello all, 2017 marks the 80th anniversary of Prague's international airport (PRG). This weekend, they hosted an open doors event that featured a small area with some aircraft to look at and poke around in as well as a limited number of guided excursions around the airport. Unfortunately all the exc...

Re: VP-FAZ Twin Otter Landing Today !

I remember the couple of flights I got on Canadian military Twotters. I was in the Air Cadets as a teen in the mid/late 1980s, so they liked to give us a bit of a thrill when they took us up. Landings were particularly interesting when they were on grass with the the bigger, low pressure "tundra" wh...

Re: VP-FAZ Twin Otter Landing Today !

Lovely shots of a great aircraft.

I have a soft spot for the Twin Otter as I grew up with the Canadian military ones in their bright yellow and red SAR markings flying overhead regularly.

Pardubice Aviation Fair (3.4.2017)

Hello all, Yesterday, I was in Pardubice in the central part of the Czech Republic for their annual air show.  It's a largely civilian affair that features a civil fly-in, vintage aircraft of various eras and a bit of modern military aviation. There is also a display of vintage military land vehicle...

Thanks for the good words.

Mike: You got me curious about EI-DAN so I looked it up. I have to say she's looking well kept for a near 14 year old bird in the fleet of a cheap carrier.

Brno (BRQ) 17.3.2017

Hello all, It's been a while since I had time to do some spotting at my local, but I got a free afternoon today and decided to rectify the situation. Here's a bit of the goings on: Things started small with OE-ALJ, a DA-20 Katana stopping in http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l615/Pickled_Wings/Spo...
