Spotter friendly farm airfields?
Re: Spotter friendly farm airfields?
Staffordshire:
If leaving the M6 at J13 (A5), Otherton isn't far away (it can be seen off the left when you're on the M6 approaching J13). Around 20 odd based but not usually spotter friendly. Most of the aircraft live in their own small shelters but may be a few out on the field. http://www.othertonairfield.co.uk/
If you continue down the A5 past Lichfield, a quick diversion down the A38 brings you to Roddige (near Fradley)
http://www.microlightschool.org.uk/ there are around 20 based here, usually friendly if you ask
Just down the lane from the above is Sittles Farm, http://www.sittlesflyers.com/
Access may be given if somebody is around, around 20 based again
There is a farm strip at Streethay (next to the A38 on the edge of Lichfield, a short drive from Sittles/Roddige), http://www.abct.org.uk/airfields/airfie ... thay-farm/ around half a dozen based but usually no access
Back to the A5 and in between Lichfield and Tamworth is a strip at Shenstone
http://www.greatcirclemapper.net/en/air ... strip.html
around 6-10 based and access may be given if somebody is around
From Shenstone, it's a short drive to the M42 allowing a quick look in at Birmingham on the way past to the M40
