Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

I was just going to bed last night and when I was closing down my laptop it had an "update and shut down" option. So I chose that option as W10 updates usually take about 30 minutes...............

It took 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete the installation, so choose a sensible time to update your system and not when you're knackered and wanting to go to bed after a hard day's graft !

Has anyone else gone through this misery?

Mine took 1hr 45 min.
All seemed ok but next day - running slow and hanging up at times. Almost like doing something in background.
Have re-booted, done disk frag etc but still same.
If it carries on, am considering doing a restore to a point before download.
Pete.

Thanks for the reply Pete, sorry to hear that you're having problems after the update. I was the opposite - my laptop was running incredibly slowly for a couple of days before the update, and is now running as fast as it did when it was new.
To be quite honest, I don't think I'll ever use anything that the update installed, they should warn people beforehand what the update entails and give everyone the choice of installing it, or not.

:grr:

I was trying to update my laptop W.10 on Thursday and kept getting odd messages. It was on nearly all day doing things and I'm not sure if it kompleted or not, wasn't reminding me on Friday when I hosted a quiz so I assumed it did but there was no message to say so. As i only use it for quizzes and not internet related stuff I'm not overly concerned

My problem sorted.
I have a HP laptop. I looked at Task Manager with no apps running. I found 7% to 15% of CPU usage being taken all the time by
HP Touchpoint Analytics.
A web search showed several sites with people's complaints. Basically, it's a HP "spyware" taking off data to improve security and customer experience :grr:
It is not clear whether this was just a HP update, or whether MS accepted it into their WIN FALL update.
A big moan is that you are not asked to agree to data sucked off.
Well - I uninstalled it.
Will watch to see they do not try to sneak it back on again.
So far, so good.
Pete.

That's interesting Pete, I have a HP laptop that's fairly new and I didn't have that problem. You don't really need this update to be quite honest.

Thanks Pete - I noticed that this app is taking my CPU to or near to 100%. I'll check when I get home and follow your suggestion if it still causes an issue. Oh for Windows 3.1 again
