SO - who likes indian curries and what are your favourites?
personally I like them quite hot and my local restaurant does a rather hot (enough for me) Bengal chicken chilli mossala which as well as having a really good spicy flavour has about 6 or 8 small but very hot whole chillies in it and not with the seeds removed! Chewing the chillies does have a temporary anasthesic effect before one's tongue explodes and you gasp for a drink! That's half the fun of it
I've recently learnt that a phall is reckoned to be much hotter so has anybody tried one and what was the experience like, I've read that the very hot chilles they use can actually have a hallucinatory effect but don't know if that is an exaggeration. There is one legendary restaurant in New york where the chefs issue a health warning if you order one and they wear gas masks to prepare it! Is that just for effect?
there is an argument that if it's too hot then you don't taste the full flavours, I think the taste comes through regardless of the heat.
so who has been beaten by a curry that was too hot?
