Prince Philip retires from public duties

Post by andygolfer » Thu May 04, 2017 12:39 pm

I think he deserves to at his age, done really well working for the country all these years, a normal person would have retired 30 years ealier at state pension age.

I really have enjoyed some of his comments over the years, the press are having a bit of a look back at some of them today - the Daily Telegraph's webpage has the 48 best ones (in their opinion): http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05 ... y-moments/
the video at the top isn't working but that didn't spoil my pleasure! Good on him.

Apparently when the press were summoned to the palace this morning for the announcement the Sun speculated incorrectly that he had died, I can just imagine his response to them something like this: 'no you bl**dy idiot I've dyed my hair'.
Andygolfer (or at least I was once), now just plane crazy

I agree that he has done remarkably well to keep working as much as he has done, he is a very funny man and has a sense of humour that is easily taken in offense rather than in its true meaning

Tbh...and I know this could ruffle feathers...I honestly cannot see Charles, Camilla, William or Kate continuing to keep a full schedule til they are his age, Harry I can cos he is very much the go-getter in the younger generation of Royals

I only hope that now Philip has decided to retire from public life that he does not also drop into a depression and maybe pass away too soon as is often the case for people who have lived really full lives and then retired, they can easily and quickly decline in physical and mental health without the daily stimulation of keeping busy and active. After 70 years of working so actively with Elizabeth, it will be a tough time for him to adjust to a more sedentary ife
