Jeff Lynne's ELO
Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
Hi Bob, I've been to loads of concerts since the early 70s and don't really have a list of favourites as all of the bands I've seen are completely different. It's nice to hear that you're seeing some quality stuff and, at times, I wish that I lived near a major city instead of being stuck up here in the wilderness !
ELO are playing the Manchester Arena on 05/10/18 - they're doing 10 gigs in the USA in August, followed by 19 in Europe and the UK. The tour ends in Belfast on 26/10/18.

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
Thanks Mike- That's a bummer the date at Manchester next year as I am on holiday- will have to look at other events in the area.
Maybe Belfast so I can go to Newtownards. Will throw in a suggestion about that one to the wife.

Full details of the Europe & UK dates here, Bob :- http://jefflynneselo.com/events
Belfast sounds good, maybe Paul has some spare rooms and he'll have a beer tent in his back garden !

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
Not long to go now, hopefully the weather plays ball on Friday as 66 mph gusts are forecast for the time that my Flymaybe flight is due to arrive & depart at Inverness.

I thought you were used to a bit of wind!
Enjoy the show
I hope it's not too rough, I'm off to Italy for a long weekend.

Lucky you, I bet the weather in Italy will be a lot better than here! They haven't named the storm yet but it'll be called Callum if they do.andygolfer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 5:30 pmI thought you were used to a bit of wind!

Enjoy Mike, hopefully you will get some Blue Sky on the way down to BHX.
Happy Days

Cheers Bob, the weather still looks bad for tomorrow but at least the wind looks like it'll be blowing straight down both of the INV & BHX runways. What we don't want is a crosswind, that would be really bad news!
Sun is shinin' in the sky
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin' everybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day, hey hey
Runnin' down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly in the city
On the streets where once was pity
Mister blue sky is living here today, hey hey.....................................................

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
Had a great night at the Birmingham Arena last Friday, I had a really nice surprise when I found out that my Son had forked-out for 3rd row seats - I bought him a pint for that!
Here's a couple of videos that I took, the 1st one is "Rockaria", (after about a minute a HUGE man in front of me stood-up, so I had to stand up and hold my camera way above my head), the 2nd video is the Travelling Wilbury's classic "Handle with care".

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
a pint, that's nearly an arm full! I should hope you bought him more than a pint, looks like excellent seats.
I trust it was as good as ever.
Did you realise that you accidentally switched your phone over to selfie mode so when you held it above your head you filmed the people behind you?

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
I didn't switch it to selfie mode, there were the best part of 12,000 people behind me and looking behind was incredible, the Arena was filled for 3 nights and they could have easily filled it for another 3. They're doing 4 sell-out shows at the O2 in London now after a sell-out show in Leeds 2 days ago! Liverpool, Dublin & Belfast next.andygolfer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 17, 2018 5:56 pma pint, that's nearly an arm full! I should hope you bought him more than a pint, looks like excellent seats.

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
Your a proper fan Mike- glad you got there in one piece, and that you enjoyed the concert- well that's a no brainer- he was excellent when we saw him in Manchester and with all the other gigs he is putting on- no doubt others think the same.
Happy Days

Re: Jeff Lynne's ELO
Cheers Bob, I've been a big fan of The Move, Wizzard, Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne and everything ELO for the best part of 50 years. ELO have just released a load of major arena dates in the US next summer, no doubt a huge European & UK tour will follow.
I rather like this shot I took last month in Brum, I hope you guys like it too. I was still suffering from shock after discovering how near the stage we were, I was expecting the "nose-bleed" seats again!
