Conington
Address: Peterborough Conington Airport, Holme, Peterborough
Postcode: PE7 3PX

East of A1(M) between J15 and J16 of A1(M). You need to leave the A1 and go onto the B1043 either at Sawtry (J.15) or Stilton (J.16) and head towards the B660 turning and go east to Holme , in Holme village turn right towards the airfield which is about 1/2 mile south of the village, there are signs to Peterborough Business Airport from the B1043 and in the village.

The car park is obvious as you drive along the road south and you can also park on the south side on the verge beyond the runway threshold (point A) where excellent views of the airfield are available for both logging and photography including landing shots although they tend to be a bit on the high side. If they are landing on runway 10 you will also get good shots as they turn off the runway.

Runway: 28/10 Asphalt 987x23 metres

This is a very friendly airfield and flying club. go into the clubhouse to ask for permission to walk round. I was given permission and although I offered to wear high viz they said it was quiet so not necessary but I find it’s always best to carry a high viz vest with me just in case I need it.—I put mine on anyway for my own peace of mind. I was told not to go into the hangar until I had asked somebody there in case they were busy or moving aircraft around (it was late afternoon when I visited), I asked at the hangar and the guy checked with whoever was in charge and gave me the go ahead. A brief walk round the apron as well and I was done in 15 minutes, as usual I took pics of everything to provide a log , it’s so much quicker and avoids misreads! I don’t spot myself but there might always be somebody grateful for a list.
If you aren’t allowed on the airside for any reason you can still log quite a few from the clubhouse, and what you can’t get from there you can get from the parking point adjacent to the end of the runway and most aircraft in the hangar can probably be logged from there assuming it’s open although the aircraft might be blocking one another.

Can be quite busy if the weather is good sometimes with a nice mix of types. Largest regular visitor is Citation M-ICRO. Never yet been fortunate enough to be down there when it lands. The aerobatic championship round held in July is worth a visit to see selection of aerobatic types and get some decent photos. Parking off the road at the threshold of runway 28 offers good photo opportunities when the runway is use for landing and even worthwhile for departures if 10 is in use. Still sorting a number of my images from this year but when I get a chance I will post them. Nice to see a post from Conington and Sibson, thanks for posting Andy.
thanks for this info, I've copied it to the Conington info topic
