Where else- Sandy Beds - microlight field

Post by Terry » Tue Apr 13, 2010 7:48 pm

I am posting this here for want of a better place. Drove to Sandy in Beds today , not the usual way but a
(West country accent please) 'If I were going to Sandy I wouldn't start from here', way.
Anyway just before I joined the A1, I found a microlite strip. 3 visible only 1 (G MARZ ) I could get/photo.
Nice colour , Ford Apollo Green, I think.

Hi
Thanks for that Headset. Not an avid fan of microlites, don't know where the strips are hence me falling over this one :)
When i pulled in there were several people about ,all under their car bonnets ! The clubhouse was still being assembled (log cabin).
Looked all fairly new, but the website makes it appear established.
Have fun

It is a well established micro field, not been there myself but have heard stuff going in / out of there.

Here's another on the M25 / M1 near J22 St. Albans

Hi Headset
Been to that one although the name of the farm escapes me and it was a couple of years ago.
Seem to remember there were a few light a/c too including an American registered C150 wreck !
Have fun

In addition to the one above at London Colney, Another Microlight strip in Hertfordshire can be found at Graveley (just off the A1, on the edge of the Luton Zone), I believe there's around 20 based here.

It's Bridge Farm just north of the A603 about 1/2 mile west of the A1 roundabout. I was managing a construction project very nearby a few years ago and they were often quite active. It is marked on the OS map if you look at Bing maps and the aerial view on there gives an idea of the layout
