After 10 years when it was closed by the MOD and Qinetiq, G/A is hopefully starting up again at this historic airfield opened in 1941. http://www.fly-llanbedr.co.uk/
Last weekend aircraft noted were
G ARWS
G COKI
G ATNL
They were using a new A/G freq 118.925 Llanbedr traffic.
Hope its off interest
Regards Ian

Ian,
That is interesting starting G/A from the airfield- I wonder if any of the Mona Residents will go there!!! I take it G-COKI is G-CDKI a Skyranger? (No trace of the first)
Happy Days

Re: Llanbedr Airfield
Things are picking up at this lovely historic airfield.
For anyone in the area this Wednesday (25th June), the airfield is a planned stop-off point for "Round Britain Microlight Challenge". Over 50 microlights are expected to use the airfield as a night-stop, arriving on the Wednesday, and departing Thursday morning (26th).
Obviously the weather will have a major say on this, although the "Challenge" progress can be viewed on

I'm sure that if this is a success from the airfields perspective, it could be the first of many such events

Re: Llanbedr Airfield
Paid a brief visit here whilst on holiday in the area, on Sunday 24th August.
Very friendly at the flying club, but didn't need to ask for access as there were only three aircraft present, all easily visible from the road inside the airfield.
Present were:
G-ATNL Cessna F150 (based)
G-BEWR Cessna F172
and the rather magnificent Nanchang CJ6 G-BVVG/68 resplendent in Chinese AF olive green.
According to the chaps in the flying club, only G-ATNL is based at the airfield.
Robinson R44 G-POET was also active in the area but I'm not certain it was using the airfield?
They are soon to open up a cafe on the airfield, a bit late if you ask me, as the holiday season is coming to an end?
The airfield is huge and is extremely well maintained with an expansive area with hangars/apron etc, not to mention the 7500 ft asphalt runway, as well as two others.
The location, is geared up for what could be a huge venture, if only it wasn't in it's geographical location, especially with Caernarfon being so active relatively near by. It has the potential to effectively be a regional passenger airfield/airport and was recently shortlisted as a potential launch field for the commercial space flight programme.
Despite all this, I can't help but think it will struggle to grow in terms of residents.
Let's hope I'm proven wrong?
