I went along to the Vintage and Classic fly-in at the glorious Compton Abbas airfield yesterday. With fine weather it was a great turn out of cars, bikes and planes and on arrival was asked if i wanted to park in the show area - as my car's not classic or vintage I guessed they were referring to the driver. I politely declined and proceeded to park at the 26 end of the runway. Whilst the weather was fine it wasn't hot yet heat haze and atmospheric clutter were a major problem all day and making shots with a focal length of about 300mm or over record shots only.
It was a good turnout of aircraft with 70+ visitors plus some of the residents going up. Noteworthy attendance was 3 visiting and 1 resident Harvard/Texan, 1 visiting and 2 resident Stearman, 2 visiting Tiger Moths, 4 Chipmunks, some older Cessnas and Pipers as well as the de Havilland Dragonfly and a Beech 18. To my amazement it was the first time i had seen the Dragonfly. Overall, 15 new frames in the log book.

very nice Neil, that Beech looks lovely. I saw that last year - a real beauty and a nice addition to the airshow circuit.
Nice to be offered a parking concession even if you turned it down. One of the advantages of advancing age which I too am now enjoying
thanks for psoting them

Great selection of shots, Compton Abbas is one of the most picturesque airfields in the UK.
