Friday morning at Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2017

With the weather forecast looking favourable, I made the late decision to head up to Ashton Court on the outskirts of Bristol to photograph the morning ascent on day 2 of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.

Clear skies at the start gave way fairly early on to overcast conditions, then another clear period before broken clouds towards the end. Sounded like ideal conditions for ballooning, with the balloons drifting towards the Bedminster area of Bristol.

Nice set Roger, I've not been since 2005 and loved every minute of it. :thumb:

Great pictures. Nice to see something different.
I have managed three visits - 1994, 2003, 2007. Thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle, but so crowded. A victim of it's own success ?
You have something now for the October SPOTM !
Thanks
Pete.

Thanks Pete :thumb:

It's a great event, but as you said, it can get so crowded - especially for a Night Glow.

The time I went for a Night Glow, there were announcements over PA saying everyone must be off site by (I think) 11.30 that night. I walked back to the car park but didn't bother starting the engine until 0130 on the Sunday morning, as people queued to leave the site!

I'll have a think about the SPOTM!

Thanks again
Roger

super set, I've never been so another one for the list.

thanks for posting them and look forward to an entry in the Oct SPOTM - your hardest job is deciding which one!

Thanks Andy.

Although I live relatively close (about an hours drive), the difference in the weather at home and in Bristol can be massive - so you'd need to think about a weekend in Bristol to try and see at least one launch! I think 140 balloons lifted on the Friday morning.

Entry to the Fiesta is free, but it was £15 to park the car on site this year - I don't think this has changed in recent years.

As for SPOTM, decisions, decisions...............................
