Another sweltering hot day. The cider went down well. A nice day, nice venue - but, why with so much space, do they place barriers up close to static aircraft ?
For me, the most interesting aircraft was the Short SC7 Skyvan OE-FDP
IMGP3094
Richard Goodwin Pitts S-2S G-EWIZ
IMGP3097
An interesting older type Gardan GY-80 Horizon G-ATGY
IMGP3169
Visiting air ambulance with apt reg G-DSAA. An AW-169 - to me an Agusta-Westland, I will struggle to call them Leonardo.
IMGP3215
One of the pleasure flight helicopters Bell 206B G-BYBI
IMGP3222
Now a few Yaks
Yak 18T G-YAKJ
IMGP3172
Yak 52 G-YAKX / 27 red
IMGP3176
Yak 52 G-YAKH / 33 white
IMGP3171
Yak C-18A G-BMJY / 07 yellow
IMGP3179
Mig 15UTI N104CJ / 18 red
IMGP3101
Finally, both of the Martin-Baker Gloster Meteor's, used for ejection seat testing, are now civil registered.
G-JSMA WL419
IMGP3144
G-JWMA WA638
IMGP3140
Hope you all find something of interest in this mixture .
Pete.

A very nice set Pete, the Skyvan is nice and I also particularly like the Meteors.
I agree the placing of barriers close to the aircraft is a pain, a bit of space between spectators and aircraft makes all the difference for photography and just for general viewing - you get a far better perspective for both.

Re: Yeovilton Air Day 8-7-17 civilian registered
Thanks.
The Skyvan was a nice surprise, used for parachute dropping (The Falcons).
The barrier issue is also mentioned in the review on the UKAR (UK Aviation Review) website. I appreciate that some folk want to get up close, but when it is in a special colour scheme, or unusual type, the barriers could be close one side, but distant opposite to allow a clear view. Even with wide angle lens, some aircraft were difficult to shoot without including the barriers.
The frustrating thing at Yeovilton is that they have so much space ! Grumble over, still a nice venue and enjoyable day.
