super set Adrian, I like these fly ins especially when you can get up close to the aircraft for photos, usually nice friendly events

I must get to Popham some time - for me it's a bit of a pain from Essex, diagonally opposite as far as the M25 is concerned, might look to combine it with an overnight stay sometime and go to Heathrow on the way home the next day.

I could possibly move this to the airshow/events photos section - do you think that would be more appropriate? I don't know if it was a formal event or not.

thanks for posting them

Hi Andy,

Popham host a themed event on the second Sunday of every month, the dates are published generally in January on their website, as well as the wider Aviation media, so in fairness this was an organised event albeit not a proper airshow. In between times Popham have agreed to host other events such as the Solent Aviation society Fly in and the Micro Light World Championships. Even if there is no event scheduled for a weekend it is not uncommon for 20-30 Fixed wing visitors to turn up just on an average sunny weekend day.

You are certainly correct about one thing, i do not know of any other venue that will allow un-restricted access to the aircraft park, whilst at the same time adhering to the stringent guidelines laid down by the Health & Safety Executive and the CAA, quite frankly it's a tribute to the Popham Team that these events are run so successfully.

The next one is the end of Season fly in on the second Sunday of October ( Weather Permitting )

All the Best

Adrian

Thanks Adrian, I think moving it might help get more publicity for their events so if it's okay I'll move both posts over.

If you would like to (and have the time to do it) please feel free to post a link to their events calendar in the Fly ins/events section (http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... m.php?f=62 ),otherwise I can do it for you later. They do appear to have some nice events there.

Lovely pictures, looks a nice event to go to. I have thought that other than the Microlight Fair, other events would be very low key.
From your pictures, I will certainly go to more. Access has always been good at Popham.
The LAA Rally (Sywell this year) also gives unrestricted access to the aircraft, but charges extra for it, above the admission fee. But, it's worth it.
Thanks,
Pete.
