Aircraft noses at Pontoon Dock

Post by Maltatripper » Wed Sep 05, 2012 6:50 am

I recently heard a rumour about the "decorated" noses of several BAE146 being displayed near Pontoon Dock DLR, as part of the Cultural Olympiad?).

Can anyone confirm that this is true.

If so, do you know where they were/are and which aircraft were/are involved.

Many thanks.

David

I think there was one or two 146's broken up at Southend recently or they may be from the ones broken up at Bournemouth a while ago?

I have done some more research. The pictures were taken in june 2012, at london pleasure gardens. This has since gone into administration.the nose sections have probably now been scrapped.

Additional research indicates that the London Pleasure Gardens in June 2012.

The Flickr images taken on 29th June 2012 give some indication of the quality of the location.

LPG Limited apparently received about £8M in public funding, and went into administration on 3rd August 2012.

Wrecks and relics indicates that g-tbic and g-btjg were scrapped in feb 2012.

It seems that the nose sections were retained temporarilly, but were probably scrapped following lpg going broke.
