Check out this guide before visiting Doncaster Sheffield.
Spot A:
Information:
Currently, most spotters use Spot A for photography and spotting at Doncaster, there is a mound which the locals at DSA have made and has been approved to be there from the airport itself. If you do visit Spot A, you should have no problems with security. Photography from this spot is ideal in the morning as you have the sun behind you. This means photography can be difficult late afternoon as the sun will be infront of you. When runway 02 is in use, usually you will be able to photograph the aircraft rotating infront of you. When runway 20 is in use you can photograph the aircraft arriving; if you're wanting touchdown shots you will need a 300mm+ lens.
Ideal lens for 'Spot A': 70-300mm

Spot B:
Information:
Spot B is useful for aircraft taxiing to the hold of runway 02, unfortunately photos will be taken through a crash gate and I wouldn't advise parking there as you will be moved on by police. I would suggest to park a little further on towards the runway/approach lights area as there is a layby. shots can be also taken of arrivals from the road. With the sun positioning, it is advisable to use the spot in the afternoon and not in the morning as you will have the sun infront of you, this is only if your wanting to photograph the aircraft. You can also walk down further towards the runway, to get head on departure, or arrival photos.
Ideal lens for 'Spot B': 70-300mm

Spot C:
Information:
Spot C can be only used for arrivals on runway 20, for photography it is advisable to shoot in the afternoons as the sun will be infront of you in the mornings. Security shouldn't bother you at this spot.
Ideal lens for 'Spot C': 100-400mm

Spot D and E:
Information:
Spot D and E will let you look over the ramps, mostly used by biz jets. Photography is through a fence. At Spot D, which is the hangar for Kinch Aviation Services (Cessna and Beechcraft service center) you will see aircraft parked outside and if your lucky inside too. Photography for both spots is advised to be in afternoon.
Spotting at spots D&E is now not advised, this is due to parking fines being issued if you park in this area.
Ideal lens for 'Spot D and E': 18-105mm
