The end is nigh, for Filton
I've been reliably informed that work has begun to "remove" the ex MK Airlines B747s at Filton, ASI style, with a dozer. All Three are outside, in all White livery and one of them was being dealt with today.
On the plus side, Boeing B737 BBJ N835BA (will check reg) was in and out this morning. At least this one escaped, haha.

Possibly from the golf course Mike. But it's been such a long time since anyone's been there, it maybe overgrown and you may encounter a hostile golfer as well.
Further to my earlier. The one being crushed today had the MK logo on the tail, so it wasn't G-MKKA. The other two are being robbed of parts, so not long for them.

So which B747 are at Filton. Also is the ex MK Airlines DC8 still there. My last picture is now a couple of years ago, (right down at the West end).
Incidentally, if you want pictures of MK B747's, then Kemble is the place.

G-MKKA is definitely there as it was seen outside at the airshow. There were two in the hangar, G-MKAA I believe was one, but am guessing the other one was either G-MKDA or FA, as both have MK on the tail. I assume that at least one of them has been removed by now, as the last I heard, the claw was about to do it's dirty work. The DC 8 departed years ago, to be made into Coke cans.
You can't fail to notice the MK 747s at Kemble.

Re: The end is nigh, for Filton
I have not seen the B747's yet. I suspect that they hide among the hangars.
Perhaps you gents have inside access, as opposed to watching from the fence line.
I did a bit of delving on the CAA website, and found the following;
G-MKAA No Flight Declaration 11/08/2011
G-MKDA No Flight Declaration 11/08/2011
G-MKFA De Registered 4/5/2010
G-MKKA No Flight Declaration 3/7/2012.
Hope that this helps.

This seems to confirm my belief that G-MKFA was scrapped in 2010.
If so, then it seems that either G-MKAA or G-MKDA was scrapped in early August 2012.

Re: The end is nigh, for Filton
Just found an e-mail dated early 2010 with a list of where the MK 747s were and at the time MKKA MKAA MKDA MKFA & MKLA were at Filton. LA has departed and I believe it's still flying. FA was recycled in late 2009 early 2010 (only three were present at the 100 anniversary airshow in September 2010), which leaves KA, AA & DA at Filton at present.
I'm not sure which one has gone and the state of the other two, but I'll try to find out.

From what I've seen on the net G-MKLA was returned to Air Atlanta Icelandic. It once again carries the registration TF-ATX and currently flies for MASKargo.

There is just a single b747 left now.
I I'd it this evening as g-mkka.
It is shabby and all white.
Not sure how longer it will be there.

I have been re reading the report on planespotting.co.uk. This was updated in june 2012.
It shows 2 aircraft.
Apart from g-mkka, it shows g-mkda in mk airlines colours, (imo, it was scrapped in august).
It also shows n748aa. I did see another aircraft, but it was partly hidden, (near g-mkka) but can not give a positive I'd.
