I have not uploaded or shared from the new Flickr site yet. I have that 'joy' to come!

I was not aware of the addition of new keywords by the site and have just checked that. I checked just the latest three images that I uploaded recently. Sure enough, Flickr has added six new keywords to the first image, seven to the second and another four to the last photo that I checked!

However, it is possible to remove the tags added by Flickr. See the link for details:

https://help.yahoo.com/kb/flickr/tag-ke ... n7455.html

I have now deleted all the additional keywords but it's going to be a massive job to delete across my whole photostream!

Also, in the 'Settings' area, it is possible to edit who can add notes, tags and people to your images. I have changed this setting to only me. Not sure as yet how this will affect Flickr added tags. Will wait and see. I am also going to provide feedback on this issue saying that I am not in favour of Flickr, or anyone else, adding to info that I have posted with my images.
Regards,

Laurie.

just been looking at the tags on my pics and it's a nightmare. will get everybody but who you think would be interested in looking!

I've seen a lot of talk re view numbers but can't see mine- do you need the pro version for that.

And also in Laurie's post : Also, in the 'Settings' area, it is possible to edit who can add notes, tags and people to your images. I have changed this setting to only me. Not sure as yet how this will affect Flickr added tags.
same question from me please. Most of the options seem greyed out and only a global type settings option on the right. I was worried by setting it to only me it would mean nobody else would see the photos. (maybe I'm just old and thick  )

Andy, I thought there was no real difference regarding settings between Pro and other accounts. Not absolutely sure so I could be wrong. I have had a Pro account for quite some time now and have not changed that.

To edit tags so that only you can add them you will need to go to the main settings area and click on the "Privacy and Permissions" tab. When that page opens, scroll down to the "Defaults for New Uploads" heading, click on the 'Edit' button in each sub-section and set those permissions to how you want.

Provided you have 'Anyone' set for who can see your Photostream, it will be visible to all. Don't forget to 'Save' any changes that you might make.

Regarding view numbers; on my images these are shown at the top of the white area immediately below the main image box. Is that what you were talking about?
Regards,

Laurie.

Thanks again Laurie, I found it and have recorded some screenshots. I'll do a post as a guide with screenshots for anyone else like me who needs a bit of help when I have a bit of spare time.

I've just had a look at the 'new' Flickr site and I have to say I'm disgusted with them!!
A few years back I bought 'pro' and got to upload a few extra pictures a month etc, they then gave out 'pro' to everyone for free just after I had paid my annual renewal subs !! They now want us to pay for 'pro' again !!!
Cheeky :grr: !!

Or am I missing something?

It would appear that we will be unable to opt out of "auto-tagging" or bulk delete the added tags,
no matter how useless and/or inaccurate they are.
I wonder how many photos there are tagged as "outdoor" ?
Stll, one must accept that "Flick knows best" :grr:
Not happy
Andy

it is rather hard to make sense of the reasoning but there are very few alternatives which keep the quality.
Unfortunately they probably realise that so have the upper hand.
