The tour is run by Darren Williams who is a very knowledgeable bloke who gives you a booklet on the history of Hawarden and info re some of the residents. He gives a tour of the hangars he is authorised to do. Also tells you the details of the other hangars. One hangar held a Kingair in silver primer not sure if a shadow or not. He is happy for anyone to contact him re tours of the hangars – also as Bob has previously stated the tours are free- however a donation to the nominated charities would be appreciated.
No photographs allowed but it is a small price to make- tours only take place on a Tuesday and Wednesday and Darren can be contacted on the Hawarden Website.
Made 13 from the tour plus two into LPL 15 so far for the day

Happy Days

Is it just a case of sending an email to the address on the link? Looks like a good trip. Any advice would be much appreciated

Apatche123,

Just go into the link click on Airfield then scroll down to Airside tours and put when you want to go and you will get an e-mail back virtually straight away.

Darren the lad who does it is excellent- takes you around all the hangars he can.

The tours are on a Tuesday and Wednesday by the way not Monday and Tuesday- had a senior moment. Lots of stuff there- I had seen the Russian stuff on numerous occassions before so did not need them. But got a few gapa fillers- Tour takes about an hour.

Happy Days

Nice one Bob, thanks for the info. It's something I'd certainly be interested in doing. I did the perimeter of Hawarden a couple of weeks ago, but unless stuff is active, it's a so and so of a place.

The only two frames I noted on that visit were the two "125's" (forget all this Hawker 400 etc nonsense!!) parked at the far end, so it's useful to know what else is based

Rich,

It's a great tour- I am like you just go up every now and again to see what biz are in across the other side- but got quite a few- don't normally see at the weekend like the JP's and the P68's.
