Champions League Airlift at Liverpool
Champions League Airlift at Liverpool
Took a trip north at the weekend to Liverpool for the return airlift from Kiev on Sunday. Weather was good in patches and variable at other times culminating in a thunder and lightning storm at the end of the day. A good mix of airliners was the draw and I managed to get most things during my 13 hour stint from 6am to 7pm. Only escapee was the Air Bucharest B737 which loitered all day on stand and departed 25 mins after I had left for the 4 hour return trip home!
Hope you enjoy.

Very enjoyable day out, but a long journey back! A big shout out to the North West Air News website as well for their comprehensive due-lists and movement coverage that encouraged me to make the trip up.
Denis.
Hope you enjoy.

Re: Champions League Airlift at Liverpool
very nice Denis, worth the long trip.
The SAA A.330 & A.340 aircraft seem an odd choice to have chartered, would have thought there were more local ones they could have used.

Re: Champions League Airlift at Liverpool
The A346 was SAA's standard flight to FRA which positioned to Kiev from FRA to do the Liverpool Flight and positioned back to FRA afterwards for the return trip to Jo'burg. The A332 did a similar pattern from Munich. Indeed one of their LHR flights also did the journey to and from Kiev from LHR during its layover presumably for London based Liverpool fans who had made the trip to see the game.andygolfer wrote:

Great set Denis, some really unusual stuff there that you've captured very well.

A day very well spent with that variety of airliners and older equipment.
