Stansted 01-04-2017, an unfoolish way to spend a morning!

Post by andygolfer » Mon Apr 03, 2017 8:36 pm

I was at Stansted on Saturday for the monthly planewatch meet up at the Aerozone. Despite the failure of the rumoured An.22 to arrive (not sure what happened to it or where the rumour started ;) ) there was a good selection of aircraft for us and the weather got better as the morning progressed until the heat haze (I'd almost forgotten what heat haze was) started to become a problem at least on the more distant shots. Here's a fairly extensive selction of my photos.....

firstly I went out on the approach to get some pics of the Cargolux 747 in sunlight:
ImageLX-OCV B.747-400F Cargolux, Stansted 01-04-2017 1645c by Andrew Goldsmith, on Flickr

then onto the Aerozone mound by which time the cloud had moved in
some of the north side visitors:

the military fans call this a C.37, to me it looks very much like a Gulfstream 4:

(the transit van had a nice personalised number plate as well **11 BBJ !)

and there was a B.757 military equivalent (C.32) a few pans away too

a few biz departed

this was quite a big biz type, well government really:

this B.737 BBJ 9M-III owned by the Sultan of Johor was the best of the biz arrivals:

and a seamless transition from biz to airliners!

the Saudia cargo flight was a nice surprise

and I tried this one of it in mono, (apart from the tail it was virtually black and white anyway)

another more regular cargo flight:

(Pegasus are occasionally using A.320 NEOs now but sadly not last saturday)

BA Cityflyer are still operating at weekends during the LCY curfew:

the Air Moldova arrived just before our curfew was imposed for another month:

Jet2 started operations from Stansted on Thursday, just these 2 aircraft are based at present:

but they also used this Titan B.757

hope they are of interest, there are lots more in my Flickr album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/125470545 ... 978536984/

C&C welcome

Great selection Andy, and good to see you again of course. The landing Cargolux shot was worth arriving early for.

Hi Andy,

Did anyone put a log together?
I called in briefly on Saturday morning and a biz escaped id.
It was parked at a bad angle and the only bits I got were N.8..M

Cheers

Trevor, I've just been through all my pics (I usually do a quick sweep to get a record of everything that I can) and found a challenger 300 N801PH was parked over the north side near the trees (probably around stand 512 area north of the titan hangar) it has a red tail, It's not exactly the reg you quoted but could your 'M' be an 'H' ?

I also found a log on the yahoo group and as well as the above, a global 5000 N 878HL was recorded - that was the only ohter one starting N8** but L could hardly be mistaken for M (no info on where that was parked I'm afraid

HTH

Ta very much Andy,

It was a Global, N878HL fits the bill perfectly!

I had logged N801PH already.

pleased to help, Trevor.

If you aren't already a member of the Stansted yahoo group then it's handy if you are a regular visitor / spotter as there are lists on there most days as people drop in for a quick look round : https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/stansted/info it's also handy for advance info on movements
