Stansted on a Sunday evening 2-8-2015

Post by andygolfer » Sun Aug 02, 2015 10:27 pm

A brief visit to Stansted this evening to try to get some pics in the evening light, I got there just in time to see the Silkway 747-8F arrive. The Russian Legacy was a very nice catch as well

Nigel / Nick - thanks for the comments re the first one, I was lucky to get away with that one.

I got there in the nick of time with the 747 on approach and hastily re-set the ISO (was on 128000!) but forgot to adjust the exposure compensation back to zero after having adjusted it to +1 the previous night when photographing the barn owls. Fortunately it wasn't too bright so a bit of darkening on the editing brought it back to normal. Just lucky that Silkways have a light grey top, if it had been white the highlights would have burnt it out.

Note to self - at the end of a photo session always set the camera back to an average setting to avoid really over or under exposed photos. ;)

very nice set :thumb:

you really got away with the first shot looks great, I ruined my shots of the only A350 i have ever seen at heathrow, it was just getting dark as i saw it line up on 27R grabbed the camera and never had time to adjust so just shot at what i had set half an hour earlier and every shot was blurred

many thanks Kevin, I was rather lucky - a large mass of cloud covered the sun about 10 minutes after the Russian departed.

hope everybody is well in Norfolk

Hi Andy,
The Silkway #1 is a fantastic shot.
We like a bit of 747F
Everything we want from a bit of heavy metal/ cargo ... a bit of jelly or spray goes such a long way adding to the sense of power.
Great lighting btw !
All the best,
Mike.
