Stansted in the sun, 15-4-2015

Post by andygolfer » Wed Apr 15, 2015 8:45 pm

another trip to Stansted this afternoon to catch the 2nd of the 4 Lufthansa flights which are bringing polo ponies from Argentina this month as well as the KLM Cargo 747 (same load), the light was much better this time so I hoped to improve on last week's efforts. Additionally the Silkway B747-8F was visiting so quite a selection by Stansted's standards. Taken from the 'radar mast' mound this time, the fire school one was looking overloaded! I like this one when they are landing on 22 but prefer the other for 04 so I was quite happy to stand on this one today or rather on my ladder on this one! Had the bonus of a red kite as well but my pic of it wasn't worthy of posting. On with the pics.....

the 747 (PH-CKA) departed soon after I arrived

and the Lufthansa MD.11 (D-ALCM) arrived in nice light this week

and another MD.11F , FedEx N601FE on the regular service:

and the Silkway 747-8F as it departed, I missed the best angle as when I changed to my smaller lens on my other camera mid take off run , I found I'd locked the lens position and it was well past by the time I realised the problem and unlocked it, stupid elementary error!

Swiss RJ HB-IYY arriving:

and another regular, Germanwings A319

a Ryanair 737 (EI-DYT) with additional artwork on the nose:

Titan have modified their scheme a bit, here it is on 737 G-ZAPZ, looks rather nice...

and a few biz jet movements:

and just because I like it, one more of the Lufthansa MD.11

hope you like them, C & C welcome as always

thanks guys, just wish I had managed one with a decent angle of N360LA without the light poles sticking out the roof but I mistimed the shots and had background rubbish in every one. By now I should know the right lines at STN but I got that one a bit wrong :( With that and leaving the lens in the locked position on the Silkway shots Ididn't quite have the perfect day

Hi Kevin, sorry the headline surprised you, it didn't last long though - colder today and even a few spots of rain a little while back! Hoping I can make it on Sunday for the Centurion 747, just hope it is on time. See you then if it all works out.
