many thanks, 'worth getting very very cold for' would be another way of putting it! Took ages to warm up when I drove home.
I was quite pleased with the results, I had thought about going out on the approach but by it's scheduled time the sun would have gone round to virtually head on anyway and I thought photos with a bit of background would be more interesting. In the end it was early so not sunny side for me but a bit of setting adjustment helped improve the results and I got some fairly decent backgrounds although trying to get a pic without all the light poles sticking out the top of the aircraft is always a challenge at STN, you have to pick your moment to avoid the worst offenders! - having said that I got one on the 3rd pic but at least the slow shutter speed used to get the prop blur meant it was blurred, at 1/800th that would have stuck out like an extremely sore thumb.
