from the basource again on October 4th:

British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-BNLU was withdrawn from service at London Heathrow this morning after arriving as BA208 from Miami. The aircraft immediately positioned London Heathrow – Cardiff-Wales for component recovery which will include removal of the New First cabin for re-use in another aircraft. This brings the active Boeing 747-400 fleet down to 45 aircraft.

Thanks Andy, I'll make the effort to get to Rhoose in the next week or so (it won't leave within a fortnight) to 'graph it for this thread. (A few other bits I need to get as well just haven't had a chance to get to the locals lately!)
The name says Sheffield but I'm actually South Wales based now! Also often seen at Southend, Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham.

Apparently a 747 went into Cardiff today for scrap, G-CIVP perhaps, don't think that's due out yet?

Anyone confirm that? I'd guess it went in for works or something

Didn't think any of the G-CIV's were going. Perhaps it's to receive interior or other parts from a withdrawn aircraft ??

G-CIVD was showing on the ground on FR24 this morning and according to thebasource returned from Cardiff to LHR after maintenance today, would another have gone in as one came back?

To clarify, current at Rhoose are CIVT, CIVH and BNLU. Presumably only BNLU is leaving the fleet at this time.

The latest addition to the list is 737-436 G-DOCB, withdrawn on 10th October. It is reported to be going to Cranfield Institute of Technology as a ground instruction airframe, as did Trident 3 G-AWZN back in 1986.

Reported by Flightglobal
British Airways is to quicken the retirement of its Boeing 767s and has advanced slightly the delivery schedule of its Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 fleets. The airline aims to have only four 767s in its long-haul fleet by the end of 2015, compared with seven previously. Parent company IAG says that all the long-haul 767s will be retired by 2016. They will be replaced by 787s. In a fleet schedule disclosed during an investor briefing, IAG shows that BA has slightly accelerated the 787 delivery schedule and will have 13 by the end of next year. BA is to start introducing 787-9s in 2015 and will begin receiving Airbus A350s in 2018 and 787-10s in 2019. The carrier has also brought forward an A380 delivery from the first quarter of 2016 to the fourth quarter of 2015, by which point it will have 10 of the type with two outstanding. BA has a batch of 767s in its short-haul operation which will be retired by 2018, replaced with Airbus A320-family jets. The carrier will also remove its 737s by 2015. Its short-haul A320-family fleet has been undergoing a revamp to higher-density configuration. BA executive chairman Keith Williams says it will finish the conversion of the 51 A320s involved next week, and then start on 11 A321s. Work on the A321s will be finished by the end of the year, he says. BA will then turn to the A319s and complete the switch by next summer. Williams says the cabin changes, which increase seat density by 6%, are proving “popular with customers”.

Departing the BA fleet today was G-DOCL and joining the others at Victorville. Here photographed in 2011 landing at Gatwick.
