Nialls aviation, many thanks for the recent updates.

I see that G-BNLE suffered a lightning strike at LHR on 27th March, along with several others, however it's still going strong having operated the Sao Paulo flight yesterday.

To keep the thread on track here's G-BNLT looking a little tired and worn climbing away from 09R at LHR.

Hi, BNLT left Rhoose for Victorville at 1100 today
The name says Sheffield but I'm actually South Wales based now! Also often seen at Southend, Heathrow, Manchester and Birmingham.

Latest update with two recent departures from the fleet.

G-BNWU was withdrawn on 23rd April but remained as a spare airframe at Heathrow until officially being withdrawn on 12th May and flying to Victorville on 15th May

G-BNLS was withdrawn on 11th May and flown to Cardiff on the same date before making the one-way trip to Victorville today (20th May)

By my reckoning that's 10 B747-400s and three B767-300s withdrawn todate (excluding the five B767s transferred to QANTAS in the '90s).

G-DOCS Boeing 737-436 was withdrawn from service at Gatwick on 31st May. Inexplicably I don't have a snap of that aircraft in my catalogue so if somebody would be so kind as to post their own, so as to keep this thread complete, that would be much appreciated.

Happy to oblige Andy with an image of the old girl. Here seen departing 09R at Heathrow in February 2012 wearing the One World billboard scheme.

First flown 4th April 1990 and delivered to BA on the 21st of that month.
Image

as an update the fleet withdrawals, I believe, stand at:

5 No. B737-400s
11 No. B747-400s
4 No. B767-300s

Regards

Neil

Boeing 767 G-BNWH departed Rhoose for Victorville at 10:15 this morning. Managed to catch a few of it last week, and just missed BNLI landing too!

from http://www.thebasource.com/ Sept 13th 2014

British Airways Boeing 747-436 G-BNLF positioned London Heathrow – Cardiff-Wales as BA9171 early this afternoon after arriving as BA202 from Boston. Though originally scheduled for withdrawal this month the aircraft will undergo maintenance and be returned to service

so looks like that one has got a reprieve but will that mean that another is going instead or is 'LF' being retained to replace 'LL' which ahd the contretemps with the building in Jo'burg?

As this topic is ongoing (and quite useful) would you the readers like it to be made a 'sticky'?

Following on from Andy's update on the two recent 767 withdrawals, leaving 15 in the fleet by my reckoning, pictures of each during their flying career.

Andy,

given the longevity of the thread, and future disposals over the coming years, it would appear to be a good idea to make it in to a sticky (I had to look that up to see exactly what it meant).

I'm also contemplating doing a similar thread for Virgin Atlantic but covering their whole fleet since start up. I've got most of the details so all I need is just a spare hour or three getting it all up together. Whilst I could probably provide photographs of 80% of their fleet over the years I was thinking of it being a team effort for the already withdrawn/disposed fleet and then as and when the A340's and B747-4s gradually leave and the B787-9s join in the near future.

Neil
