Work conspired to take me to Dusseldorf last week. I booked the ferry for 24.00 on Wednesday night with a view to deliver at 10.00. on Thursday 23rd.
Beside the E34 at Lierop had to stop to take these.
It looks like a breakers yard & they had a short length of railway line (under the Mil).
I got to DUS about 08.00 (thought I had gone to Frankfurt, they look so similar from the perimeter road !), drove round to cargo then on to the end of the monorail line.

By now (08.45) it was getting a bit quiet so I sauntered along to the GA terminal.it was heaving, but most were parked in nice neat Germanic rows so I could only get a few.
DACRC , D ACRQ , OE IDH , D IFHI , CS DNX , D AGEE , CS DNV , F HEQA , D ACBG , D CBIZ , N1355G , D CSUL.
I then set off to do my delivery in town for 10.00 got there early, got unloaded and away in about 20 minutes, so thought I would try Monchengladbach. Got there 10.30 ish.

This guy arrived and 'reversed' into his parking spot, I had never seen that done before
From there I decided to go back via Aachen Merzbroek as Eindhoven & Maastricht rarely have more than a few in.
Went via ( I know its childish)

Nice photos Terry, you sure do get around a bit!
At Leirop you have 0403 MiG-21PF (c/n 760403) and SP-SBG Mi-2 (c/n 525143027)

Terry and I have just returned from a very similar trip to his July 23rd routing.... We had a brilliant time and managed 6 airfields in a day in three different countries - an Terry, the lucky so-and-so, gets paid for the privilege!!
Anyhow, just wondered if you can help further with an ID of an F-104 Starfighter which is on the same road as the Mig/Mil above near a place called Lochristi (Terry assures me this is correct!!)? It looked like it was sitting on top of a wall which looked like a breakers yard to the right of the road heading toward Gent. Any clue's??
One last thing, the Mig mentioned above, which AF did it belong to?
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers
Bill

Hi Bill,
MiG above was Czech AF.
FX-79 c/n 9137 would be the F-104 at Lochristi, ex Belgian Air Force.
Hope they help!
