LOG: Dusseldorf 18/7/14

I had a day out to a very hot and sunny Dusseldorf yesterday. I spent the day spotting from the viewing terrace above the terminal apart from a short time around lunchtime when I made a visit to the supermarket in the terminal and had a walk to the GA terminal to read the biz off that were tail on to the terrace. I flew out from BHX aboard E195 G-FBEB and I came back on a very full E175, I think it was G-FBJH.

The log below isn't a full list (Swiss, KLM, Air France etc not logged). Germanwings & Lufthansa A319/A320s are in and out all day aswell as the Eurowings CRJ900s. Air Berlin have a large presence here, Six of their DHC8s were seen along with seven of their A330s with the rest of their flights being a mix of B738/A319/A320/A321, none of their B737-700s were seen in DUS

I do like Dusseldorf as you get a good mix of traffic, especially IT carriers from Bulgaria, Turkey, and Greece which aren't seen in the UK too often. However, Dusseldorf does get a bit quiet late afternoon/early evening. The ANA Dreamliner does arrive around 1600L but other than that, it's probably an ideal time to get out and visit Monchengladbach or Essen.

I do need to get out to FRA & MUC though to get the newer Lufty A330s, A380s and B748s

Hey, great log )

Can I ask a question ? When I went I spotted from your location. The weather was rubbish so photography was hard. I never saw the sun. So, is the sun behind you during the day from the terrace ? I checked on google earth and believe that to be the case. Would make it an awesome photography spot.

A few "snaps" taken at DUS can be found here http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 69&t=18905

Most of the day, the sun is behind you but during the afternoon, the sun is to the left of the terrace so not great to photo anything taxying in/out of the stands there (such as the Pegasus B738)
