On Tuesday, I visited Amsterdam for a day trip.

As usual with Amsterdam, the runways in use constantly changed during the day meaning a few things were missed. Unfortunately, Tuesdays is one of the quieter days for freight at AMS so the likes of LAN Cargo, Saudi Cargo, Jade, China Southern Cargo, China Cargo weren't seen. Spotting was done from the excellent terrace above the Terminal unto around 1900L when I went airside to grab some dinner and wait for the flight back to Luton. I left still needing a KLM B773 (PH-BVH) and an A333 (PH-AKC) so I have a reason to go back sometime.

The following biz were logged during the day

Overflights logged were

D-665 CH47 came from the South, did a couple of circuits of the Tower and then departed North as "Grizzly11"
TB20 PH-MLL of the MartinAir flyingschool transitted NE - SW over Schipol
261, a Lynx of the Dutch Navy passed through the overhead as "Neptune31"

The Dutch Gov't, like their UK Counterparts are looking at Airport capacity. One suggestion is that the GA field at Lelystad (to the NW of Amsterdam) is developed with some charter flights & "no frills airlines" transferring their flights from Schipol to Lelystad. That may make day trips to AMS a little bit harder should it happen
