Kemble from the Air, 11 Sep 14

Seen a civil aircraft recently but not at one of the airfields listed below? Maybe it flew over the top of you today? Need to tie up the serial? Ask in here. Requests less than 6 months old only please.

Could anyone advise me what aircraft would have been visible from 20,000+' at about 10:00 that morning, please.

Think it might be easier if you tell us what you saw and we can tie up.

first of all I can't resist asking - Was it cloudy? if so the answer would be very little :D

now I'll be serious and see if I can help,Martin;

there are two logs in the Kemble section, this one from 4-9-14:
http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 09&t=19393 which also has an update from 12-9-14

from that update if you add the 3 ATRs to the list for the 4th and take out the Gulf air A340 and the Tristar that should give a pretty accurate list (the last two seem to have finally become tin cans in the making during that week)

the above is probably the best to go by but there is another log from 25-10-14:
http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 09&t=19750

if there is anything new on that list the best I can suggest is either as a question on that log to see if anyone knows the arrival date,
alternatively check the new ones either on this FR24 page (top box) which might list their last flights: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/

or http://www.planespotters.net (a google search of the reg will probably bring it up on there, e.g. searching VP-BRV gives this: http://www.planespotters.net/Production ... rlines.php which says wfu Oct 14 so looks like that one wasn't there
AND just to prove it there is a post on 8-10-14 announcing it's arrival so looks like my methods are not totally useless!

I find those are both good ways to track aircrafts' movements so worth trying on occasions like this - good luck and hope this helps,
Andy

Thank you Andy & Rob,

Unfortunately, I can only recall seeing large a/c at both ends of the main runway plus others. Wish I had had a camera ready. I was trying to work out where we were - we had left BHX in a NW direction for the US & I didn't feel us do a major turn. The cloud didn't help. I saw what I thought was Kineton first & then Kemble. Checking later on Plane Finder, we routed thru the Oxford area and out over S Wales & Shannon, instead of the more normal Central Ireland route.

I had found those 4 & 12 Sep reports; I was just hoping for more!

Yours

Martin

I believe that Tristar ZD952 was scrapped on the 9th or 10th.

The nose section is still visible a little to the west of the scrapping area.

Doubt that you would have seen it.
