PC12 LX-JFD or LX-JFF?

Post by roger4 » Sat Jul 21, 2018 10:14 am

There is a small thread running on the LAAS e-group querying the identity of the newest Jetfly PC12 - is it LX-JFD or LX-JFF?

There are lots of recordings in the last 5 weeks or so of LX-JFF (reported as c/n 1789 and hex code 4D02BD). However these all seem to be observations taken from ADSB systems, where the transmitted hex code is converted into the registration by the ADSB receiver software by look up of a suitable external database. And there seems to be no record of LX-JFD on ADSB (e.g a search of the database function on planefinder.net, nor on my AirNav system which runs all day every day and on which I have good coverage of Kidlington and Denham arrivals).

However sightings (i.e. Mark 1 eyeball) show LX-JFD has been observed frequently at various UK airfields in the last 5 weeks, including Biggin, Denham, Farnbourough and Kidlington). FD has even been observed on the ground on days when ADSB shows 'FF arrived (e.g. andyjp's report for Kidlington on 20th June on this board, coupled with my AirNav records).

The official Luxembourg register download dated 10 July ( https://dac.public.lu/documentation/aer ... gistre.pdf ) includes LX-JFD, but not LX-JFF. Neither was listed in the 10 June version. However to add to the uncertainty the download also shows 'FD as having c/n 1787, rather than the reported 1789.

So on the face of it, either:

a) references to LX-JFF, c/n 1789 & hex 4D02BD are wrong, or
b) both aircraft exist.

Has anyone positively eyeballed LX-JFF anywhere?

Both LX-JFD (c/n 1787) and LX-JFF (c/n 1789) exist, however 4D02BD does seem to belong to JFD rather than JFF

Martin,

Makes sense, and many thanks. Presumably 'FF is newly registered, and will appear in the August download of the register from the Luxembourg authorities.

HB-FRZ c/n 1789 was at Geneva at the end of May in full Jetfly colours so was registered LX-JFF sometime after that

Three months on from my original query and LX-JFF is still not on the official Luxembourg register, I have still not picked it up on my ADSB system and it has not been logged in e.g. the Planefinder.net database.

Pilatus have delivered aircraft up to c/n 1827, so c/n 1789 should have been in use for some time now.

So I guess my original question still remains - has anyone eye-balled LX-JFF anywhere?

It looks like c/n 1789 actually became LX-JFE

Thanks Martin, another twist to the saga!

Edit - LX-JFE also is not on the official Luxembourg register so it looks to me like a mis-paint by Pilatus or a cancelled/delayed order from Jetfly.
