Canadian Ramblings 2 Vancouver South

Post by LondonEye » Thu Mar 29, 2018 4:36 pm

The South Terminal at Vancouver is used by Pacific Coastal and other small charter lines.
Wire mesh fences but photography possible. A couple of years ago they put a viewing platform to the right of the terminal. (Aprox 10m long).
The inner perimeter road with the large hangars used to be more open for peeking. But, the hangars backing onto the Fraser River are fine.
All pictures taken from outside fencing.

So to start, view to runway from platform area.

Now various views through the fence.
Pacific Coastal have operated a varied fleet over the years.

I was enjoying the floatplanes etc, but then I saw the prototype JetStar! I've always loved them, not least for their four engine layout. As seen in your photo though, the prototypes only had two. Interestingly they were British, in the form of the Bristol Orpheus. Shame a deal couldn't be done at the time to licence build them in the US for the production aircraft.
