Canadian Ramblings

Post by LondonEye » Sat Mar 10, 2018 5:34 pm

I am putting together some bits from various Canadian trips over the years. Hopefully, some pictures of interest, and maybe a few pointers for anyone spotting / photographing.
Vancouver Airport is on an island, imaginatively named Sea Island. The central area is used by all the main airlines. The South Terminal is used by Pacific Coastal AL, other small operators and general aviation.
The central area has a viewing area inside the terminal. It is about 25m length, with plenty of seating. Better than nothing, but you will not see everything.
Examples

There is a multi-storey car park in the centre, but views very limited. Any pictures are luck. But, you have a partial view towards South Terminal and GA so can make out a few regs.

There is one hotel, The Fairmont. They cater for enthusiasts ie North facing rooms give brilliant view over the gates used by USA airlines. Some of the higher rooms have a telescope.
Even if you do not stay overnight, have a meal, the breakfast/dining room overlooks the USA gates.

Finally, airside, once checked in, easy to wander a fair bit. OK for spotting but photography harder.

You will enjoy it if you go.

Enjoyed your selection, in particular the HS 748.
