Aerospace Bristol

Post by seacat192 » Thu Oct 26, 2017 8:52 am

The 'Aerospace Bristol' Museum, located on the former Filton Airfield site, recently opened its' doors, and features aircraft, tramcars, buses, car, missiles, and satelites build by either Bristol, the British Aircraft Corporation, British Aerospace or Airbus UK.

The centrepiece of Aerospace Bristol is Concorde 'Alpha Foxtrot' - G-BOAF - the last Concorde to fly, which landed at Filton during October 2003. Concorde has it's own purpose-built display building.

Images are projected on to the side of AF at regular intervals, but you are able to get photos of the aircraft without these if you wait until the 'in between' times when no film is being shown.

Great shots. I must get down for a look around Bristol's museums sometime.

Well - that's certainly different with those images on the side.
As it is so new, would you have a few more pictures to share of other exhibits both aircraft and vehicles ?
Thanks for posting.
Pete.

As requested, here are a few more photos featuring other exhibits found at the Museum.

Finally, the Great Western Air Ambulance pan can be seen from the windows at the far end of the Museum, so here is a piccy of Helimed through the glass:

I took this photo, walked back along the viewing gallery to get some more photos of Concorde, and heard the Helimed engines spooling up as they went on a shout

Thanks for the interest. I haven't uploaded any photos of the missiles or satellites to FLICKR yet - sorry.

Thanks for that Roger. Lots to see and worth a visit when in the area.
Looks like plenty of light for photos. Well done.
Pete.

You could always dangle the carrot of being close to The Mall shopping centre - just hold on to your credit card if you go down that route

I'm sure I can think of something without it costing me a small fortune!

well I managed to get there with SWMBO in tow and had an excellent couple of hours- would have liked longer but we were due at her cousin's for lunch.
Have to say it's an excellent museum and we both enjoyed it, she found the Concorde exhibition very interesting but was so-so about the rest but at least it wasn't a case of 'I'm bored let's go to the stoning' after 5 minutes.

so many thanks to Roger (Seacat) for the heads up on this and my pics will follow later - and I highly recommend it if you are in the area.
