BC Sidney Aviation Museum

Post by LondonEye » Tue Feb 14, 2017 8:18 pm

Back in 2010, I visited the BC Sidney Aviation Museum, Vancouver Island, Canada.

First up, an interesting conversion of a Beech 18 -The PacAero Tradewind.
The modifications were done at Pat Bay Airport by the PAC Aero company. The aircraft was lengthened to take a tri-cycle landing gear. The radial engines were replaced by two Pratt & Whitney turboprops. A large fin replaced the normal twin fins. CF-BCF

Douglas C-117 CG-JGQ, I was told a bit of a hybrid. They had trouble fitting the tail and wings.

Question- when Canada changed from prefix CF- to C-F, I thought that it was the same time that they introduced C-G.
Is CG- in the photo a mispaint, or am I wrong ?

Finally, the gem of the collection - Viscount CF-THG of Trans-Canada Air Lines

On the edge of Victoria Airport, well worth a visit.

Great shots , looks like an interesting place , wish I'd known about it when I was in Victoria .

" Douglas C-117 CG-JGQ, I was told a bit of a hybrid. They had trouble fitting the tail and wings. "

Interesting story on this frame , seem's they no longer have a problem with the tail and wings fitting .

Hi,

I called in at this excellent museum in June 2013, only briefly. Looks like there were a few changes since Londoneye`s visit .

A few shots taken can be viewed here.

Clydeflyer - your website is very interesting, not just aviation but the travel and wildlife as well. The dialogue on the museum is very well written.

Other's will find it interesting if you make it better known. Although it is not a dedicated aviation site, how about putting your details in the ' Promote Your Aviation website ' section found in ' The Lounge ' on this site ?

cheers,
Pete.

Hi Pete,

Your comments are encouraging and greatly appreciated but re your suggestion, I've had a look and see that this only applies to aviation websites with no other content, therefore mine doesn't appear to qualify.

Thanks again for taking the time to check out my site and getting in touch.

Cheers!
