From Days Gone By
This is my frist post here and I hope you enjoy my shots as much as I enjoyed taking them.
N5339 1928 Boeing 40-C ( Payne Field 09/03/11 )
- As of February 17, 2008, Boeing 40C S/N 1043 became the only airworthy example in the world. It also holds the title of the oldest flying Boeing in the world.
- The Boeing Model 40 was a United States mail plane that became the first aircraft built by the Boeing company to carry passengers.
- Although the primary purpose of the aircraft was to carry mail, two passengers could be accommodated in the small cabin, allowing Boeing to operate it on any of the routes that the firm might bid for.
If you look at the windows beneath the upper wing you'll see the passengers.
1941 Dehavilland DH 82-C " Tiger Moth "
1930 New Standard D-25
1958 Convair 440 ( Water Bomber )
1954 Piper PA-18A-135 Super Cub
I prefer to get them in the air but with this beautiful aircraft it just wasn't possible that day.
1956 Cessna 305C
1947 Aeronca 7AC
Thanks for lookin'................

Great stuff, more please !
Re: From Days Gone By
Thanks for the compliments folks. I have a lot of stuff to post but I don't want to clog the board.
I'll get a few more up in a while though. I'm on satellite internet and it's slower than molasses in January.

Re: From Days Gone By
Love the Convair shot too ...which looks to me like a 580?
Re: From Days Gone By
I research reg numbers at Transport Canada's site and according to them it's a 440. Here's a link to confirm it.garryrussell wrote:Love the Convair shot too ...which looks to me like a 580?
Just punch in the reg # in the box called " Mark " and it will show up. I can't link to the actual page. For some reason
the gov't doesn't like that.
Link: http://wwwapps2.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/2/ ... search.asp
This is the same aircraft as the one I posted above and if you look close you'll notice the reg # as C-GYXC.
You can't see it all in the shot but there's enough of it there to confirm it.

Re: From Days Gone By
Probably built as a 440
That's a 580...Allison turbo prop modification of the 440.

I suppose Conair should be updating their info with Transport Canada then.garryrussell wrote:Probably built as a 440
