Nice to see the BWIA Tri Star - flew on it a couple of times Heathrow to Antigua. On these flights first class was effectively a couple of rows of wider seats at the front, not separated from the rest of us plebs in cattle class, and they got a free glass of bubbly. We even used the same conveniences and whilst in the queue for said facilities was behind Richard Branson. Our conversation started along the lines of (me) 'Not got an airline of your own then....?' :D He said that they were using BWIA as Virgin's flights didn't go on the correct days to get them there and back in the kid's half term week. They were flying into Antigua before his onward private transfer to Necker Island. Saw him again and we chatted whilst waiting for our bags - he had the most motley collection of old scruffy luggage..

Yeah, much appreciated. Love them all, especially the 727s. And as for memories, I spy an Cymru 1-11 in the background of the AFL Tu-154 shot (I've always had a soft spot for 1-11s).

Lovely stuff Jon. I actually saw the Allegro 727 at Cancun the previous year.

As for Mr Branson - having just seen him and his partner in first class on the flight going on holiday for half term I asked him where the kids were 'Oh, we put them back there in economy....'

Love these classics. Didn't know we had a nostalgia thread until I stumbled across these.

Those BA schemes were a bit like Marmite weren't they?
Just wish I'd had a better camera at the time.
Keep them coming
