nightingale and some other birds 25-2018

I spent an hour or so at Abberton nature reserve in Essex today looking for nightingales. There were several around but they get into the thickest bushes that they are very hard to see. This one did pose for me on the edge of the hedge for a few moments which was a bit of a treat for me...

and then you know how you wait for one and two come along together, well there was this chaffinch sitting on the old road minding it's own business and then along comes another one, loads of space to land but what did it do - landed right on top of the first one :D

also I didn't get round to posting these at the time , 3 weeks ago I was at Blue house Farm (another Essex Wildlife Trust reserve) and the stars of the day were avocets right in front of one of the hides:

Congratulations on the nightingale shots Andy. I've seen one and recorded their song, but have never had a chance to photograph one. The avocet shots are lovely too.
