Waxwings 04-01-2017

Post by andygolfer » Wed Jan 04, 2017 5:40 pm

I've been trying to see a waxwing for several years now, let alone get a photo of one so following a tip off today I made the short journey to Witham, Essex where 3 had been reported and sure enough there they were sitting in a small tree full of berries and as soon as I lifted the camera to take a pic off they went. I thought the hoodoo had struck again although I had at least seen them - lovely looking birds. Fortunately they came back again and I managed to get some pics of them, here are a few....

A few years back a large flock of 40+ descended on the churchyard of a village I was making a delivery to, no camera, didn't even have one on the phone in those days ................................. By a complete and utter, utter, total fluke I did manage to fit my 3/4 hour 'tacho' break into watching and counting them though!
Nice shots by the way
