Post by andygolfer » Thu Mar 02, 2017 11:14 am

This is the voting poll for the February 2017 Special Photo Of The Month competition, the subject was ‘Taildraggers”, any civilian registered aircraft with a tailwheel or tailskid
Thank you to everybody who submitted entries - we had 23 entries of a very high standard.
The poll is open to all registered members but you must be signed in to vote.
Please submit your THREE votes using the poll provided.

- You cannot change your vote once submitted and please vote for all 3 choices before hitting the submit button as you cannot go back to place 2nd and 3rd choices later
- Each of your three votes holds equal value
- The poll will run for 7 days from the time of creation
- Please don't vote for yourself! There is no way to enforce this, just an honesty policy
- Entrants are listed in alphabetical order for ease (with a short description to help identify the entries)
- Results will be announced on the photo thread in the usual manner and the winning photos will be posted in the Hall of Fame
the entries can be viewed here:

Just went to cast my vote at 11:30am to find the poll already closed. My vote would have given a clear cut winner providing that nobody else missed out on the voting.

It does state 7 days from the time of creation - 11:14 on the 2nd. That may possibly be a feature of the forum or Andy is on the ball this morning!

Because, like me, you must still have the forum clock set to BST and haven't adjusted it for winter (bit late now though as the clocks will be changing again soon!) :thumb:

I've been on the ball at Stansted and Lakenheath today!

Bringback EGDG:The rule changed 2 months ago after we (the moderating team) monitored the voting pattern and we found that nearly all the votes are cast in the first 3 days then there's a lull and usually one or two on the last day, the rule change was notified here back in mid January: http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 10&t=23950

sorry you missed out on voting but it would be unfair to change it now and deprive two people a win albeit a joint one and in any case i don't think we could set a precedent by re-opening a poll otherwise we could get future requests to do the same again, I did highlight the rule change by putting '7 Days' in red as well.

I have posted them in the Hall of fame here: http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 12&t=27515

Hi Andy

I am fully aware of the changes to the voting poll and certainly do not have a problem with them.

My problem was that on my computer it showed the time for the poll to end being at 12.14pm, This being my fault in not changing the setting in control panel to winter time from BST. I will in future keep it on winter time all year round so this does not happen again.

thanks Steve, thought you hadn't noticed the rule change.

We (usually Mike) normally post a reminder re the forum time when the clocks change, Also you might notice if you're not in synch with the time on the forum (or vice versa) things like the poll end time will be different if you are not logged in to when you are.

It is very easy to change TBH so I would recommend doing so. How to do it (for ANYBODY who doesn't know):
1: open 'User control panel' on home page of forum - top left just under'board index'
2: select Board preferences from the tabs
3: in 'edit global settings' last option but one is 'Summer Time/DST is in effect:' in this just select Yes or No depending on whether BST is in effect, at present it should have'No' selected.

when we do the spring reminded I will ensure this is repeated there for those that don't notice it here as it's a bit off topic for this really.
