Gatwick 29/12

Here are a few from a very pleasant afternoon at Gatwick. Nothing remarkable, but with plenty of ski charter traffic it was a good day.

One of my main targets was the Monarch A300s before they are retired, so I was pleased to get both:

G-MAJS:

And G-OJMR:

Continuing with the Monarch, theme, here's one of many A321s which arrived:

Which will shortly rep;lace the last few 757s:

easyJet is undoubtedly 'King' at Gatwick, now with almost as many A320s as A319s:

A nice new one with sharklets:

And, what is affectionately known as 'The Carrot':

Back to some more charter traffic - Titan sent their all white 757:

And an incredibly long Thomas Cook Boeing 757-300:

A less interesting TCX A321:

BAs 737s which have been repainted look very smart still as retirement looms:

And nice to see a Dove looking pristine, without any mismatched panels:

Thomson have a large presence at Gatwick. A 737 still wearing the perfectly good old livery:

And a couple in the new livery:

Flybe was another motivation for my trip, as they will shortly almost completely pullout of Gatwick as part of their restructuring:

And a nice surprise was the eco livery Dash 8:

Virgin made a single appearance in the middle of the day:

Norwegian Air Shuttle were responsible for a few movements:

And to end, a Turkish 737 and a nice Air Arabia A320:

Thanks for looking, and I hope these were of interest.

Great set and nice to see my favourite 747 "Jersey Girl" still looking lovely - she took myself and family out to Antigua in 2008. :)

A colourful set of pictures and not a cloud to be seen!!

Not being too familiar with LGW these days may I ask where your vantage point was for these?

Many thanks for posting

Thanks Mike, Neil and Coolmore for your comments.

Neil - the photos were taken from the far end of the Inner Perimeter Road - a nice spot I thought, the aircraft are close and low.

Coolmore - make sure your check the London City departures / arrivals board - as it is very, very slow there in the middle of the day. London City only really comes alive early morning (7 - 9am) and evening (5-8pm). I hope this helps and good luck.
