Torbay Airshow 2018

I was fortunate enough to be able to get a last-minute respite from A-level exam season last weekend, by traveling to Torbay for the airshow on the Saturday. My first encounter with a seafront event, and one that I found refreshing from the usual somewhat frantic rush to a crowdline view, that base-...

Thank you... Definitely worth the slight wincing at laying on the hot tarmac!

Jet Provost T5A G-BWGF - Coventry 5th May 2018

Saturday at Coventry saw based Jet Provost XW325/G-BWGF out on a local sortie in the afternoon. Fantastic to hear the sound of an RR Viper reverberating around the airfield! 1. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/944/40105551080_68addf9788_h.jpg BAC Jet Provost T.5A G-BWGF by George Aldrich , on Flickr 2...

From Vodochody, to Beechcraft - Coventry 14th April 2018

Yesterday saw Beech 18-3TM G-BKGL make a visit to Coventry along with a few other aircraft throughout the day. A unique opportunity was left also to observe a newer resident, Aero L-29 G-BYCT, which flew in from St Athan recently. 1. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/888/26596166237_c855bc582e_h.jpg Be...

Thank you, Paul. A day, too for me tinged with sadness, but alternately happiness that she will continue to do what she was born to do!

Farewell to 'Queenie' Gloster Meteor T7 - Coventry 20/3/18

Today at lunchtime, many assembled at Coventry Airport to bid farewell to Gloster Meteor T7 G-BWMF as she lifted on her final flight in the UK, to Liverpool John Lennon this afternoon, where she will continue her journey to her new life in the US. It is with a fond farewell from myself, sending best...

The Vampire's Lair - Coventry Airport 11th March 2018

Sunday 11th March saw Vampire T.11 G-VTII/WZ507 take to the skies numerous times through the day at Coventry Airport, in the morning as part of activities for attending Cadets, and in the early evening, accompanied by Beech 18-3TM G-BKGL, she flew before landing for the assembled crowd for a TLE eve...

Rampart Aviation DHC-6-300 N162DE - Coventry 4th March 2018

Having arrived at CVT a few months back, Rampart's Twin Otter made an exit from the hangar to complete some engine tests today. Her scheme was rather befitting of the conditions, swamping the airfield in ice and snow! 1. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4778/25747069957_3b46480a6b_b.jpg De Havilland C...

Re: ANA Q400 Delivery Flight - Birmingham 24th September 201

That's a rare sight in the UK! Great angle, enhanced by a decent colour scheme. Thanks! Certainly is a great livery, works well with the shape of the Q400 I feel. JAL and now ANA have used BHX as a routing through to Japan in the past so, so long as they keep the orders flowing, we may yet see more...

Re: Coal-burner at Birmingham - AN-12BP departure 6/9/17

Thanks chaps for your kind words  Was my first time witnessing a Cub departing up close so the smokiness was really something to see! Quite a few were in today, as well as at DSA I see - so a good couple of days for AN-12 movements in the UK it seems. :thumb:

Coal-burner at Birmingham - AN-12BP departure 6/9/17

Popped over to Birmingham for the afternoon to see off Cavok AN-12BP UR-CEZ to Gothenburg after a short nightstop on the Elmdon Apron. First time myself watching the aircraft up close, rather than hearing it overhead nearby Coventry as she comes and goes. 1. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4402/37071...

Jet Provost Training - Coventry Airport 15th August 2017

Wednesday 15th August saw based Jet Provost T.5A G-BWGF conduct a busy day of training operations at Coventry Airport, departing in the morning on circuit work, and in the afternoon left for an hour of work elsewhere. A fantastic looking example of the JP, and excellent to see classic jet movements ...
