Dear Birds Air Show
Hi all, can't believe there's no comment on this here ? I went on the Thursday as I figured the majority of arrivals would not want to transit these valuable old girls in bad weather as Friday's forecast was very poor. Bingo I was on the button. Saw, 3xHurricans, 6x Spitfires, 2x Republic Thunderbol...

Re: Robin Hood (Doncaster) Airport closure
Just to comment on Andy Golfers rather patronising comments ! I have just read the stuff on the "Fighter Control" forum the military half of our excellent forum for like mined aviation enthusiasts about Doncaster Airports closure. However it is in the sub section for the Vulcan 558. It must be an ad...

Robin Hood (Doncaster) Airport closure
I have listened to the last Tui passenger flight go out, piloted by the most senior pilot in the company I believe. The very sad comments from the tower and radar tower in Liverpool to this aircraft reflected the hurt of the support employee,s ! They were almost choked up, but their shear profession...

Darken Europe operations
Hi all you Teesside locals, What's the word on the MOD aggressor contract start up and possible Teesside activities if you could please ? What do you expect as reguards visits from fighter aircraft in the near future ? Would love to see the famous pocket rocket, Areo 152e's, Mirage F1's or what ever...

Day Out whilst wife shopping in City centre
Just spent an hour compiling this to have it rejected :grr: It's still herendous to get to the airport through the traffic and platoon of safety cameras  Went to get to my usual spot at the Chevin. Road shut for resurfacing :grr: I was not happy but less happy than the pub who has had all its c...

High Flying Drone
Has anyone else seen this drone in controlled air space flying fast at around 1000ft ? It's no toy ! Who is flying it ? It is not visable to atc it seems ! It was on a track from the airfield area towards the town.

Re: Bristow SAR Frequencies?
Hi All, I find the best way to monitor the new Bristow / Coastguard SAR operations is to follow their local A.T.C.interactivity. They have air wave caperbility on board to talk to the police, fire brigade and mountain rescue teams. As for Air Wave monitoring you can forget it ! It's good and so it s...

Re: 747s at Doncaster - April 2020
Great list thanks ! Getting very interesting cargo wise ! I have felt for some time that cargo is the way forward for Doncaster airport..
I find the nature of the cargo's in and out even more interesting than the carriers !
Cheers

Re: Prestwick airport up for sale.
Anything further on Preswick ownership ? What is Nicola Sturgeons opinion on the best runway in Scotland ? After all she is a born and bread Ayrshire girl coming from Irvine as she does ! The problem is that Glasgow airport is closer to the Scottish population belt even though its runway is not in P...

Re: MD11 inbound 14/3/20
Was it a full load of flowers just like the Astral jumbo. But did it load the cargo at Ciro ? Rhodes refrigerated transport from Heathrow picked them up from hangar one as usual. It's some size of engine on the fin. Like the cargo jumbo's its performance whilst empty on take off is a sight to behold...

Re: Coast Guard Look Down SAR
Further today ! I can confirm they have a contract with the Coast Guard and that the second Beech 200 is in the hangar being retro fitted with the same look down radar kit as the first. The flight crew configuration will be a pilot plus a systems operator. I would love to see them in action ! I coul...

Re: Coast Guard Look Down SAR
Hi all, It was outside the 2xcel hangar again this Friday afternoon at 16:00 bst. The 727 had come back earlier so I guess it must live in hangar 3 with the 727 and they need to bring it out to get the 727 back in. The 727 tug and 2xcel people carrier were outside but no one about to engage in enqui...

Re: Coast Guard Look Down SAR
Cheers Rich, two of them, really ! Where have they been parked ? I go down at lease twice a week and this is the first one I’ve seen. I have seen some extra luggage compartments fitted to citations and the like but I would put my mortgage on it that the one I saw had a look down radome. Why would yo...

Coast Guard Look Down SAR
According to general info the coastguard have a Jetstream 41 on loan from Eastern Airways on trail to support its helicopter fleet. That said, I saw a plane outside 2xcel’s hangar No 3 with a look down radar dome fitted between and under the wings. I thought it was a type of Beech Kingair though! I ...
