Re: SPOTM August 2018 De Havilland

Here's my entry, DH.60 Moth G-EBWD taken at the Old Warden evening display in May this year. what a place it is and so many de Havilland aircraft in the collection (I could have used another Dh.88 pic this month but I expect you've seen enough of that!). This one looked lovely in the evening light.....

Stansted 14-08-2018

some pics taken from the Aerozone during the Planewatch morning on Tuesday, nice sunshine first thing but it dulled up after a couple of hours unfortunately. With the 7am start I managed to get pics of some of the biz without heat haze for a change :) https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1831/44016806252_...

Re: Heathrow 08-08-2018, goings and comings (pic heavy)

Looks like the 80D performed well. Thanks - yes for a first day out I was quite pleased with the results. I found a few small things that caused me problems: The adjustment wheel above the shutter button seems very light and I inadvertently changes my settings a few times (I was working in TV and a...

Re: Heathrow 08-08-2018, goings and comings (pic heavy)

thanks Nick and Wallie. Nick - I've spent ages studying maps and departure routes to try and identify good locations (and asked around a bit too!). I think I have good places for every possible scenario now but just need the time to get there more often - hopefully my neighbour will have to go to LH...

Heathrow 08-08-2018, goings and comings (pic heavy)

I spent 10 hours at Heathrow on Wednesday trying out my 80D in earnest and intense practice, I was reasonably happy with the results but a few errors crept in. I started off on the Colne Valley Way at Staines Moor taking departure shots after some bankers, sharing the field with a very inquisitve ho...

thanks Mark, I think I need to go back my old spot of about 18 months ago for best bankers - bit further away but you see much more wing. That's only much good in the winter with heat haze like yesterday.

Stansted 02-08-2018 Silkway B.747-8F and others

2 hours at Stansted this morning playing with my new toy! My EOS 80D only arrived yesterday pm so the lure of bright skies and a Silkway 747-8F due to depart made it a no brainer! Heat haze became a problem before I left (and why I left so last few weren't worth keeping) I was quite distant which ma...
